Washington Only Manages Draw Against Chicago

Posted on 31 August 202531 August 2025

The Washington Spirit were able to maintain their second place on the league table despite dropping points at home to 13th place Chicago Red Stars. It was the team’s Pride game and 16,605 spectators were there to watch the Spirit first go up in the second half on a Sofia Cantore goal after a scramble in the box. But later on, a misplaced pass allowed Stars forward Ludmila a one-on-one with Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury that the Chicago player buried. Despite having more of the chances, and a wealth of corner attempts, the Spirit were unable to produce another goal, ending the game 1-1.
