DC Power FC were unable to get a result at home against the undefeated Carolina Ascent FC. The game did not have many chances for either team and turned on the outcome of two penalty kicks in the first half. First, the Ascent were able to convert their penalty kick. Shortly thereafter, Power forward Mariah Lee had her attempt rattle off the crossbar, leaving the Ascent up 1-0 going into the half.
The second half saw the Power having the lion’s share of possession and chances, but with the exception of a late short distance shot by the Power that was saved by the Ascent’s goalkeeper, none of the shots really threatened the Ascent.
